On London

A personal journal about family life in London UK. Formerly ontoronto.net

This just in…

17/12/10

I’m actually writing about something on the same day it happened! This is unprecedented… Anyway, I think the picture explains today’s major event.

…and here’s a pic from when they got their faces painted at the Diageo Children’s Christmas Party, which actually happened 3 weeks ago. Ah well, back to my usual tardy ways.

CN Tower and fog

08/12/10

There are two good reasons to dine in the CN Tower’s revolving restaurant on a foggy day:

One: Fewer distractions from the food, which was actually very nice

Two: You can imagine you’re anywhere:

Paris

Hawaii

Mt. Fuji

Underwater

The moon

Mordor

ROM and fog

07/12/10

Friday night is late opening at the Royal Ontario Museum, and after 4.30 it’s half-price. So we checked it out after school the other week.

As it turned out I’m glad I didn’t pay full-price because Lily & Harry spent most of the time dressing up… Harry did come up with a great new look though.

Caroline couldn’t get back from work early enough to join us so we picked up pizza (did I mention we live in Little Italy?) on the way home on a very foggy evening.

The real Niagara Falls is beautiful and impressive, but it didn’t quite match up with the Niagara Falls in my imagination. The main difference is the proportions – it’s wider and not as tall as I expected.

We’d been warned that it was quite tacky there, but it’s quite easy to ignore the casinos, 4-D cinema & giftshop crap when there’s a awesomely thundering natural wonder in the other direction.

I’m looking forward to going back when the boats are running in summer. In the meantime, despite seeing the real thing, the Niagara Falls of my imagination is the same as ever.

Wishlist

05/12/10

I let Lily loose with the camera around this great local shop called Blue Banana to photograph things she might like for xmas. It kept her busy for about 20 minutes.

So apparantly she just wants everything.

One lame excuse

03/12/10

Another corny postcard I found during my Flickr-trawl. Yes it’s true I am very overdue posting: we’ve had a trip to Niagara Falls, my mum and dad visiting, a few outings and yes even some snow. Although not much…

Photos coming soon, promise!
